Tom Hardy signs up for 'Splinter Cell' movie

Tom Hardy has signed up to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell movie.

Variety reported, that The Dark Knight Rises actor will play Sam Fisher, a specially trained operative on a black-ops mission, in Ubisoft's film adaptation on it's popular game, which will be written by Eric Warren Singer (The International).



On signing up to appear in the film, Jean-Juliet Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures said: "Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills.

He then added: "His involvement in the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell movie is exciting news for movie and video games fans. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and we're confident he'll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to the fans."

Hardy is currently filming a new film Mad Max: Fury Road in Namibia. His most recent film is a gangster film named Lawless that came out in September 2012. He also starred as the villain of this year's The Dark Knight Rises, which the Blu-Ray will be released at December 3.
